The medical profession is in a constant state of flux.Thats tough for patients, because keeping up on the latest issues, ailments and cures can be a matter of life and death. It is with that in mind that every four years we publish our Top Doctors issue. But this year, we added something new: We sat down with five area practitioners to get a frank, behind-the-scenes look at what its really like to be a doctor and how that affects you as a patient.
To hear doctors describe the situations they encounter daily is to question the sanity of those who choose to dedicate their lives to medicine. One physician tells of a former patient who had a psychological disorder and would mistreat the staff, disrupt the waiting room and abuse prescriptions. Another describes the stress of giving a patient the best care possible while the threat of malpractice hangs overhead. Then theres perhaps the most frustrating scenario of all: when insurance rules and financial considerations interfere with giving patients the care they need.
But not everything is so bleak. There are also stories here about compassion, hope and the human spirit. Doctors daily lives are an endless series of highs and lows, inspiring successes and demoralizing defeats to a degree the general public can scarcely imagine.

Are anesthesiologists considered for this list or is there not a single one that made the top 250 docs in Milwaukee? I see there are pain docs but no general or cardiac or peds anesthesiologists listed. Maybe in the next "list"?

I need a neurrologist for severe neuropathy.I have looked under eveything for a doctor under the medical collage and on Feb.9th I was at another doctor's office and saw your magazine on best dentists by their piers.Having juat having had a root canal and crown I thought I'd look up your magazine and what do I do I see but best Docs, but very few neurologists.I really need someone who knows about this disease. If you can help me I would be very grateful.
How to distinguish a 'top anesthesiologist' when all they do is put you to sleep? That is why a nurse ('nurse anesthesiologist') can do the exact same job as the grossly-overpaid MD.
Is this article on the top doctors in Milwaukee or the top doctors in Wisconsin? We live in central Wisconsin and I'd like to know if doctors statewide are included - specifically those within the very widespread Marshfield Clinic organization?
Hey Jane - This list is of the Top Doctors in the 5-county Metro Milwaukee area.
Every doctor who made gross mistakes on me at the level of malpractice is listed in "best docs". If I see a physician listed I want to run the other way. Although I admit there are some listed who I know do not fit this classification. Appears to be a "good old boys" list for the most part!

I really need the name of a reputable ortho. Doc in Milwaukee area. Can also go to the surrounding areas. I am not happy with mine, and need a man who does "successful" meniscal tear procedures. Joydell Roncke.
Please tell me how I can access this info.
Thanks
I am looking for an article that was about a new procedure for knee and hip replacements in Wisconsin. A friend read the article in St. Mary's Ozaukee hospital waiting room. She thinks it was in the Feb,2010 issue. Is it possible to access this article on-line?
Thank you for your assistance.
Ok, $5.99 for the magazine off the rack, but $4.99 for a single article? Really??? Good thing I know how to use my local library where I can access it for free!
