ART OF WEDDINGS
Weddings are all about celebration, joy and affirming the commitments we make to one another. They are personal events where high fashion meets creativity, where age-old tradition meets modern innovation. We are excited to bring you our annual look at the best in weddings, from local boutiques carrying the finest designer dresses to the huge variety of venues ready to make your dream reception a reality. In these pages, you’ll find everything you need to make your event meaningful and memorable, including ideas on hair and accessories, bridal beauty dos and don’ts, Wisconsin honeymoon destinations, registry suggestions, artful cakes, gorgeous jewelry and fine paper products. We also bring you the latest on the exploding trend of wedding Web sites, where couples can create Internet sites with all the info their guests will need leading up to the big day. Fashion editor Nichole Weresch brings together the latest in high couture from the area’s fine boutiques in our two fashion features (see pages 16-31). You’re sure to find some spectacular ideas for bridal gowns, wedding party attire, mother of the bride dresses and even magnificent outfits for guests. And we haven’t forgotten about the guys, featuring some of the best tuxes and suits for grooms, groomsmen and male guests as well. We were quite fortunate to shoot these fashion pages at two of the city’s most distinctive venues for weddings: the InterContinental Milwaukee Hotel and the Wisconsin Club. The InterContinental features modern European décor, an elegant ambiance, personalized service, sumptuous food – in short, a first-class experience for any wedding. The Wisconsin Club, a beautiful Downtown mansion which was the former home of Alexander Mitchell, is one of Milwaukee’s premier wedding destinations. In addition, we’ve expanded the number of great local venues in our reception chart as an added reader service. It’s an all-encompassing tool for you to compare sites and narrow your search for that perfect place. Milwaukee is a fabulous place for a wedding, and we’re happy to be your guide to all the inspiration our city has to offer.
